These are the questions people ask most frequently, and my answers. Feel free to ask me more, I'll add to the list of answers.
Q: What inspires a particular song?
A: Life. My personal experiences, people I know, things I may read or witness, or something that God puts in my spirit.
Q: When you write, does the whole song come to you?
A: It depends. That has rarely happened. Sometimes I just get the chorus first, sometimes the verses, and some times the hook. With "My Prayer," I had recorded the hook on a tape recorder. I just had the tag line, forgot about it, and months later I was going through the recorder and heard it and started writing the entire song from that one-line hook.
Q: Is it easy to write songs?
A: No. It may be easy to write just any songs but it takes work to write a song that ministers to people. I've written many songs, Christian and secular, that I've done nothing with (so far). Writing is a labor of love.
Q: What's the most important part of a song?
A: For me, its the lyrics, the words. That is my main focus. I want the lyrics to be biblical. Every word has a meaning.
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: As far as my project, I have many. They all tell a story. I'm anxious to know what your favorite song is and why. Please email me and let me know, I may even post your response on this website.
As for other artists my favorite Christian songs are: Total Praise-Richard Smallwood, I Love The Lord-Whitney Houston, In The Midst Of It All, Step Aside-Yolanda Adams, Let Go-DeWayne Woods
Q: Who are your favorite artists?
A: Whew! I have a bunch in different genres: Yolanda Adams, Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, Tamela Mann, BeBe & CeCe, MaryMary, The Clark Sisters, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, Reba McIntyre, Brooks N Dunn, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith...
